This is a very difficult question... When someone asks me if music is important to me the answers simple, but when asked why it's important, it gets all complicated. I mean, music isn't important to everyone.
I've kind of grown up with music, even though my parents aren't very musical or anything. When I was really small my mom took me to these music classes for little kids where we just sang kids' songs and played kantele, a Finnish traditional instrument that is very easy to learn. After that, when I went to school (age 7) I started to play the flute. At the time when I decided I wanted to play, I didn't actually even know what a flute looked like. I just liked the sound of it, I guess. Now I'm in love with it of course, and I've actually started to rehearse it since I'll have to complete my basic level this spring, and it's going to be a lot of work. After that I'll have to start playing in the conservatory level...
Well, to get back on my actual story...
On third grade I got into our school's music class. It wasn't a very though job, since my elementary school is definitely not any huge top school, but I remember that I was really nervous about it. I guess that's just who I am (laugh). I get easily nervous about those kinds of things... My time there was great, nonetheless. I started to play piano on the fourth grade ( I think... well around that time anyway...) I had some trouble with my best friends up to the sixth grade, being a girl and all...
On sixth grade I got to know a really nice girl, and we were close friends almost overnight. We hadn't really been talking before that and it turned out that she was a great person. And then we both decided to apply to a good secondary school which, from what we had heard, had a great music class. And we got in! I was so happy about it! That's definitely in my top 10 days of my life! We still go to that school and we're now on the eighth grade.
I've met some great people here, too! We're a pack of six best friends at school.
Nowadays I listen to The Beatles. I started around sixth grade, because my dad played one of their cds in the car every day. (He always sang Yesterday and Help! to me as a kid... He's not a very good singer though...) There's something about their music that just strikes me... I can't really explain it... It just makes me listen to their records over and over and over again... I just can't get enough!
I've also started to listen to japanese music... I wonder where that started... I guess I'll explain it later because this post is getting seriously long now...
So maybe I don't know why I love music so much. Maybe I can't tell you, maybe I never can... Maybe I'll find out some day. I'll let you know if I do. All I know is that music is a part of my heart and soul, and I will never let it go.
Thank you for reading, see you next time!
